Product capabilities
A repair pipeline for the complete Google Photos export.
Takeout Rescue treats every numbered ZIP as one library, validates it before repair, and creates a separate output you can inspect before importing anywhere else.
One workspace for every ZIP part
The current Windows release combines selected Takeout ZIP files into one local repair workspace so sidecars and media can be matched across archive boundaries.
Keep enough disk space for the ZIP downloads, expanded workspace, and separate repaired output.
Dates and GPS recovery
Takeout Rescue restores supported Google capture dates, filesystem timestamps, coordinates, descriptions, and device-source information into portable metadata fields.
Photos and videos remain on the computer throughout processing.
Duplicates, albums, and dynamic photos
SHA-256 content hashes identify exact duplicate exports. One physical file is retained while album membership is merged, and album outputs use hard links where the filesystem supports them.
Existing Live Photo identifiers are preserved or restored to the video resource. Google and Pixel Motion Photo resources can be extracted or rebuilt without modifying the original archive.
Copy, write, read back
Metadata is written only to a separate output copy. Each supported write is read back through ExifTool before the item is reported as verified. Interrupted work resumes from a checkpoint and JSON and CSV reports stay beside the repaired library.
